A new defenseman joins the Blizzard

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard made a trade this weekend to strengthen its defensive core struggling with injuries.

Montreal native defenseman Anastasios Lazaris joins the Blizzard who acquired him in return of future considerations from the Cornwall Colts of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL).

Lazaris is a 6’1” and 174 lbs right-handed defenseman. He will be 19 on December 5.

He was in his second season with the Colts. Last season, he played 48 games and registered one goal and seven assists. This year, he took part in five games with the Ontario team and obtained an assist.

Lazaris will be in uniform this afternoon in Campbellton.

Meanwhile, the Blizzard traded recently forward Jake Parker to the Thunder Bay North Stars of the Superior International Junior Hockey League in return for future considerations.
