EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard management has confirmed the arrival of star goaltender Simon Boucher for the upcoming season. Simon Boucher is the brother of former Blizzard goaltender Thomas Boucher, who shined for the Edmundston team in the 2022-23 season.
A native of Lévis, Québec, Simon Boucher is 19 years old, making him eligible for junior hockey for the next two seasons. In 2023-24, he posted a 2.00 goals-against average with the Cégep Champlain – St. Lawrence Lions of the Quebec Collegiate Hockey League, the second-best average in the Quebec circuit. He posted a record of 15 wins and 6 losses. In the playoffs, his goals-against average was 2.63, with 5 wins and 3 losses.
If his brother Thomas catches with his right hand, Simon catches with his left. Since his first bantam campaign in 2018-2019, Simon Boucher has consistently posted winning records. In the last six seasons, his record stands at 59-21-6.
Blizzard fans will be able to see him in action when training camp gets underway in August.
