Arsenault-Coulombe-Duguay’s line explodes in Miramichi

MIRAMICHI, New Brunswick – Linemates Alex Arsenault (1g, 3a – 1st star), Olivier Coulombe (2g, 1a – 3e étoile) and Jérémy Duguay (1g, 1a – 2e étoile) put on a show in Miramichi on Thursday night as they guided the Edmundston Blizzard to a convincing 7-4 win over the Timberwolves.

Blizzard’s powerplay was devastating and tore the Miramichi defense to pieces. Simon Olivier’s men scored no less than four goals on their first four man-advantage of the game.

Jesse Chamberlain, Philippe Collette and Peter Amanatidis also found the back of the net for the Blizzard (32-12-0-1 = 65 pts) who lead the Summerside Western Capitals (28-14-2-0) by 7 points atop the Eastlink North division. It was also the eighth straight win for the Blue and White and 26th victory in their last 28 games.

Reese Allen, William Schofield and Jacob Santerre beat goaltender Thomas Boucher, who gave up his spot with just over five minutes left in the game following two minors and a game misconduct. His replacement, Samuel LeBlanc, allowed a goal to Jacob Santerre, his second of the game.

With four points on Thursday night, Alex Arsenault moved into fourth place in the MHL scoring race. He has 66 points (24b, 42p). He is followed by Olivier Coulombe (64 points) who became the first Blizzard player to score 40 goals in a season. Coulombe also took the league’s lead in goals.

The Blizzard returns to the Jean-Daigle Centre for back-to-back games on Friday (7:30 p.m. against Campbellton) and Saturday (7:30 p.m. against Pictou County).
