Arsenault ends the debate in OT in Miramichi

MIRAMICHI, New Brunswick – What a crazy game in Miramichi!

Alex Arsenault scored the game-winning goal 1:07 into the overtime period as the Blizzard registered a 7-6 win over the Miramichi Timberwolves on Saturday night at the Miramichi Civic Centre.

The Blizzard (14-10-0-1) continues its victorious road with an eighth win in a row.

The two teams exchanged goals at a furious pace. The bout was so close that no team managed to take the lead by two goals.

The game’s first star, Evan Gass, finished his night with two goals and an assist. It was forward’s first two goals in a Blizzard uniform. Two Edmundston players collected four points, defenseman Anastasios Lazaris (1g, 3a), and Olivier Coulombe (0g, 4a). The latter extended his series of games with at least one point to 10.

Tristan Fortin (3rd star) had another good night with a goal and two assists. Tim Porter and Noah Matulu scored the other Blizzard goals.

Jacob Santerre (2g, 1a) was the the top Timberwolves as he earned the second star. Other scorers for the locals were Félix Landry, Liam Travis, Ludovic Dufort and Reese Allen. The Timberwolves (7-9-3-1) played without the league’s top scorer, Daryk Dubé-Plouffe.

Power plays were an important factor in the game as the Blizzard scored three time in three attempts. The Timberwolves went two for three during the game.

Thomas Boucher won a seventh straight win in front of the Blizzard net. He faced 29 shots. His opposite, Ryan Knight, received 34 shots.

The Blizzard will end its weekend on the road with a stop in Campbellton on Sunday (3 p.m.) to face the Tigers (13-6-1-1).
