EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – With four days to go before the start of the playoffs, the Edmundston Blizzard held an awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 10, at the Jean-Daigle Centre.
A total of 12 trophies were up for grabs. Goaltender Cédric Massé was the most decorated player of the evening, winning three trophies, including the two most coveted: Most Valuable Player as voted by the players and Most Valuable Player as voted by team management. He was also named co-winner of the Jessome’s La Source du sport Cup (most points in the Player of the Month selection), an honor he shared with forward William Labranche. Labranche also won the award for best leadership – community involvement.
Captain Émile Fournier took home the trophy for best sportsmanship and Blizzard ambassador.
The Blizzard finished third in the Eastlink North division with 66 points. Edmundston will begin the first round of the best-of-seven Metalfab MHL Cup playoffs on Saturday, March 14, with a visit to the West Kent Steamers, who finished second in the division.
