EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard logo finished 8th in the best new sports logos contest on the planet. The virtual museum Chris Creamer’s Sportslogo.net today announced the results of the 15 judges who have chosen the following logos: Memphis Redbirds (1st place – AAA professional baseball), Minnesota Timberwolves (2nd place – NBA) and Kootenay Ice (3rd position – Western Major Junior Hockey League).

The three first place logos come from teams who have rebuilt their image while the Blizzard logo is an original design produced by Productions Rouj of Edmundston.

The most exciting aspect of this contest is that the people who voted for the Blizzard when it was called to the public vote were the most numerous among all Internet users in Canada and the United States. In the early evening, on Thursday, December 21, 37 percent of Internet users voted for the Blizzard logo, a total of 1,247 votes compared to 22 percent for the Memphis Redbirds (748 votes) and 17 percent for the Timberwolves of Minnesota (558 votes). The Kootenay Ice only got 153 votes (5 percent).

But the popular vote counted only for a judge among the 15 called to determine the most beautiful logos. The Blizzard organization members are a little disappointed by the turn of events because they believe that their logo deserved a better ranking. But, as a good player, they accept the verdict of the judges. Being selected among the ten best-looking new logos on the planet is already an achievement in itself.

The Blizzard’s organization is taking this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for its logo and support throughout the first half of the season. The next game of the Edmundston Blizzard will be played on Wednesday, January 10th.
