EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The 2023-2024 season is just getting underway, and the Edmundston Blizzard are about to embark on their biggest road trip of the campaign, heading to Nova Scotia for three games this weekend. Fortunately, this will be the only such weekend on the calendar.
Today, Friday, the Blizzard (2-1-0-0) visits the Valley Wildcats (0-2-0-0). The following day, Simon Olivier’s players will be in Yarmouth (2-1-0-0). And to round off the trip in the Eastlink South division, Edmundston will play in Truro (1-1-0-0). All meetings start at 7 p.m. Blizzard management also reported that defenseman Tim Porter has rejoined the team after taking part in training camp with the BCHL’s Alberny Valley Bulldogs. This is excellent news, particularly considering the absence of defenseman Owen Arnold due to a wrist injury. Porter established the Blizzard record for most goals (8) in a season in 2022-2023.
Last season, the Blizzard won all six games in regulation on Nova Scotia soil. And at home, only Yarmouth managed to beat the Blizzard. The Edmundston team therefore had the better of the Nova Scotia teams, with a combined record of 11 wins and just one loss.
Statistics are a thing of the past. Teams undergo major changes from year to year. Nevertheless, the Blizzard will try to surf on their good fortune on the opposing rinks in the neighboring southern province.
