Blizzard acquires impact player in Kevin Desjardins

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard fans who still remember the prowess of former captain Tristan Gagnon have much to celebrate.

Forward Kevin Desjardins, who will turn 20 in November, comes to Edmundston and shares similarities with Gagnon. Desjardins, who was born in Saint-Jérôme, Québec (same city as former star goalie Francis Asselin), played in the same league as Gagnon (Ligue de hockey collégiale du Québec) and showed about the same offensive statistics.

Last season, Desjardins finished third in scoring for the Saint-Hyacinthe Lauréats with 17 goals and 12 assists in 30 games. In 2018-19, he collected 11 goals and 17 assists in 48 games with the Terrebonne Cobras, of the Quebec AAA Junior Hockey League. In Terrebonne, he teamed up with former Blizzard defenseman Tommy Bertrand and forward Félix Laniel who joined the Blizzard last season. Desjardins will therefore be on familiar ground, which will facilitate his integration.

“I’m excited to play with a first-class organization, but most of all to be able to play in front of passionate fans. In addition, with the group of veteran players and the new acquisitions, I am confident that we will have a great team to aim for the top honors at the end of the season”, commented the 5’10 forward, Kevin Desjardins.
