Blizzard collects a point in a shootout loss

EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard managed to earn a point on Saturday night at the Jean-Daigle Centre, scoring the tying goal with 1:06 left in the third period, but still lost 5-4 in a shootout.

Thatcher Hughes (10th and 1 assist), Éliott Robert (9th and 1 assist), Olivier Théberge (4th), and Alexis Doucet (13th) beat goalie Rylan Benner in regulation time. Charles-Éric Tremblay (5th and 1 assist), Darien Thomson (12th), William Labranche (7th) and Émile Fournier (6th with the tying goal late in the third) replied for the Blizzard, who outshot the Timberwolves 35-30.

Jack Flanagan earned the win in goal for the Timberwolves (9-8-0-1).

Hughes (1st), Tremblay (2nd) and Charles-Olivier Giguère (3rd), who scored the decisive goal in the shootout, were named the stars of the game in front of the largest crowd of the season at the Jean-Daigle Center (2,445 spectators).

The Blizzard (10-6-0-2) will travel to Bathurst on Sunday, November 9 (2 p.m.) to face the Chaleur Lightning (12-7-0-0).
