EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – Five for five for the Edmundston Blizzard, who beat the Campbellton Tigers 8-4 Friday night at the Jean-Daigle Centre in an exhibition game of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.
The Tigers gave a good opposition, taking a 2-0 lead and then trailing 5-4 after 40 minutes.
The first star of the meeting, Austin Paul once again demonstrated his skills with two goals and two assists. Peter Amanatidis, second star (2g, 1a), Jake Measel (2g), Mathieu Pelletier, and Tristan Fortin completed the scoring for the Blizzard (5-0-0-0), still undefeated in preseason games. Tristan Therrien, third star (3a), and Ethan Johnson (2a) also contributed to the offensive feast which saw Edmundston fire 60 shots against goaltender Isaak Pelletier. Nicholas Sheehan got the victory for the home team. He faced 29 shots.
Jordan Brière had a hat trick for the Tigres. The other goal scorer was Nevin Otis. Justin David and Joakim Bergeron added two assists each. Lacking goalies, the Tigers “borrowed” Matthew Parker of the Blizzard. Parker was sent on the ice for 3:28 in the second period while Pelletier apparently needed to have a piece of equipment repaired. Meanwhile, Olivier Nadeau, who was cut off from the Blizzard camp earlier last week, wore the yellow and black Tigers uniform on Friday.
Tigers and Blizzard will cross paths again on Saturday evening (7:30 p.m.) at the Jean-Daigle Centre.
