Blizzard earns honorable mention in the Canadian rankings

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Thanks to a strong start this season, the Edmundston Blizzard earned national recognition with an honorable mention in this week Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.

The Edmundston Blizzard’ record shows five wins and one loss, the same as the South Shore Lumberjacks and the Summerside Western Capitals, which respectively rank 17th and 19th in the country.

According to the Maritime Hockey League’s constitution, the Blizzard is ranked first in the Eastlink North Division as the team defeated the Western Capitals earlier this season. The Canadian ranking seemingly ignored this fact.

On the national scene, the top three positions are the Penticton Vees (BCHL, 8-0), the Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL, 7-0) and the Brooks Bandits (AJHL, 7-0)

Picked by an independent scouting service, the weekly rankings are based upon a variety of factors, including winning percentage; win-loss record; point totals; goals-for versus goals-against ratio, etc., and the league they compete in.

The Blizzard will play its next two games at home by hosting the Yarmouth Mariners (Saturday at 7:30 pm) and the Miramichi Timberwolves (Sunday at 3 pm).
