Blizzard ends Tigers’ winning streak

CAMPBELLTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard defeated the Campbellton Tigers 2-1 on Saturday night in Campbellton stopping to eight the Tiger’s winning streak.

The same two teams will clash this afternoon, on Sunday, at the Jean-Daigle Centre in Edmundston starting at 3 pm.

On Saturday, the Blizzard took a 2-0 lead and goalkeeper Myles Hektor stopped 34 of 35 shots. Logan Johnston opened the scoring at 0:47 of the second period after a play prepared by Jeff Akerley and Tristan Mercure. Alexandre Jacob scored the goal that would later be the winning one at 8:35 of the third period. The Tigers never quit and they responded three minutes later with a goal by Pierre-Luc Lurette.

The three stars of the game were Logan Johnston (1st), Myles Hektor (2nd) and Pierre-Luc Lurette (3rd).

This is the fifth straight game that ends with a one-goal margin for the Blizzard whose record is 16 wins, 3 losses and 2 overtime defeats. Edmundston leads the Miramichi Timberwolves by 11 points at the top of the EastLink North Division of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
