Blizzard gets Brendan Sibley in return for Chase Carter

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard and the Yarmouth Mariners completed a trade involving two defensemen.

The Blizzard gets Brendan Sibley, 19, in exchange for Chase Carter, 20, and a 3rd round pick in the 2021 Midget Draft.

A Dartmouth N.S. native, Sibley is a three-season veteran with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last year, he collected an assist in 14 games. He also wore the Mariners uniform for 30 games in which he had 3 goals and 14 assists. Il all, he played 87 games in the Q and his experience will certainly be an asset at the Blizzard blue line. He is 5’10’’ and 154 lbs. Despite his size, his stats indicate that he doesn’t hesitate to go in traffic. He spent 74 minutes on the penalty bench last year in Yarmouth.

As for Carter, a player of a similar size to Sibley, he had his best campaign last year in Edmundston with 2 goals and 27 assists in 49 games. He skated in 84 games in the Blizzard uniform and was the last member of the original champion team (2017-18). Carter was born in Truro, Nova Scotia.
