EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard pulled off a good shot by getting goaltender Raphaël Audet, whose rights belonged to the Saint-Jérôme Panthères, of the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League.
The Blizzard secured the 20-year-old native of Rimouski in return for future considerations. In the last shortened season in the QMJHL, Audet defended the Océanic goal during 25 of the team’s 39 games, registering a shutout and a goals-against average of 3.46 and a save rate of .876. In two seasons in the Courteau league with the Rimouski team, Audet maintained an average of 3.24 in 42 games and a record of 14 wins and 21 losses.
Audet, 6′ and 167 lbs, was an 8th round pick (130th overall) by the Oceanic at the 2017 QMJHL auction. In 2019-2020, he was between the pipes for the Saint-Jérôme Panthers during 9 games and posted a 3.52 goals-against average. The previous year (2018-2019), he wore the colors of the Thetford Mines Filons, of the Quebec Collegiate Hockey League, where he maintained an average of 2.55.
