Blizzard keeps its honorable mention in the Canadian rankings

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Second overall in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, the Edmundston Blizzard retained its honorable mention in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) rankings released today.

The Blizzard won a game, suffered a loss and lost once in shootout in the past week. The Blue and White’s record is 23 wins, 8 losses, 1 setback in overtime and 5 losses in shootout. With 52 points, the team is trailing the North Eastlink Division leaders, the Summerside Western Capitals (31-5-0-1), by 11 points. The Blizzard have a three-point edge over the Yarmouth Mariners (23-11-2-1), leaders of the South Eastlink Division.

The top three positions in Canada among the 131 teams are held in order by the Brooks Bandits (AJHL – Alberta, 38-5-1), the Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL – Alberta, 38-6-0), and the Coquitlam Express (BCHL – British Columbia, 38-7-1). The Summerside Western Capitals follow in fourth place and could well be among the top three teams in the country soon at the pace they accumulate points in the second half of the season.

Picked by an independent scouting service, the weekly rankings are based upon a variety of factors, including winning percentage; win-loss record; point totals; goals-for versus goals-against ratio, etc., and the league they compete in.
