CAMPBELLTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard found their footing in the third period, but it was already too late. Leading 5-1, the Campbellton Tigers held off the Blizzard’s attacks to win 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at the Campbellton Civic Center.
Lucas Bremshey (1g, 1a), Sam Hope (1g, 1a), Samuel Deveau (1g, 1a), Alex Lavoie (1g), Liam Duquette (1g), Alexi Parent (1g), and Nathan Rhodes (2a) led the offensive charge for the Tigers (5-4-1-0).
Justin Trottier (1g), Noah Breau (1g), Éliott Guénette (1g), Émile Fournier (1g) and Darien Thomson (1g) were the top scorers for the Blizzard (5-5-0-1).
The Tigers took a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play and added a fourth goal in the second period. The Tigers scored a fifth goal early in the third period to give themselves a four-goal lead (5-1), but the Blizzard rallied with three consecutive goals to revive their hopes, trailing by one goal with just under four minutes remaining in the third. The Tigers’ sixth goal was scored into an empty net.
As in their loss the night before, the Blizzard dominated in shots on goal, firing 46 shots at first star Samuel Quimper. The Tigers had 24 shots. Cédric Massé took the loss in goal for the Blizzard.
The second star went to Nathan Rhodes and the third to Émile Fournier of the Blizzard.
The Blizzard will play its next two games in Grand Falls (Friday, October 17) and at the Jean-Daigle Centre against Pictou County (Saturday, October 18).
