Blizzard loses to Steamers

GRAND-BOUCTOUCHE, New Brunswick – Despite dominating each period in terms of shots on goal, the Edmundston Blizzard suffered a 3-1 defeat against the West Kent Steamers at the J.K. Irving Centre in Grand-Bouctouche on Thursday, September 25.

This was the first game in a series of three away games for the Blizzard.

The Steamers scored the first three goals of the game, one per period, to secure the victory. Noah Larochelle (4th) got the puck rolling at 19:06 of the opening period. West Kent started the second period shorthanded, but that didn’t stop them from scoring 38 seconds in thanks to Natan Grenier (2nd).

In the third, the home team dealt a heavy blow to the Blizzard by making it 3-0 following Zachary Boudreau’s goal (4th). Edmundston denied Xavier Farrah a shutout with 1:19 left in the game when defenseman Zachary Robichaud scored his second goal of the season.

The Blizzard had a 36-26 advantage in shots on goal. Cédric Massé was in goal for the Blizzard.

The Steamers have won both of their games against the Blizzard this season. Goaltender Farrah was named the first star of both games. The other two stars of Thursday’s game were Larochelle (2nd) and Grenier (3rd), both of the Steamers (3-2-0-0).
