Blizzard registers first pre-season win

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Inspired by an exceptional performance by the line of Joshua Nadeau, Isaac Chapman and Zachary Cadorette, the Edmundston Blizzard got their first exhibition win by defeating the Fredericton Red Wings 5-4 on Friday night at the Grand-Harvey Center in the provincial’s capital city.

The 517 spectators witnessed the domination of the Blizzard in the first two periods especially in the second frame that caused the Wings to suffer their first exhibition loss after three straight wins.

Chapman had another amazing game with two goals and two assists. He has seven points in two games so far. Nadeau (1g, 1a) and Cadorette (1a) supported their linemate. Samuel Grégoire (1g, 1a) and Paul Leroux also found the back of the net for the Blizzard (1-1-1).

Sasha Charbonneau (1g, 2a), Sam Campbell (1g, 1a), Brendan MacRitchie (1g), Nick Ahern (1g) and Connor McCluskey (2a) contributed offensively for the Red Wings.

The Blizzard led in shots 40-37. Andrew McLeod and Morgan Kini shared the task in front of the local team’s net. Antoine Lyonnais earned the victory in Blizzard’s goal.

Chapman (1st), Charbonneau (2nd), and Nadeau (3rd) earned the game’s three stars.

Both teams will get back in action on Sunday at 3 pm at the Jean-Daigle Centre in Edmundston.
