EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard continues its shopping spree ahead of training camp. They have signed François-Xavier Mercier, an 18-year-old 5’9″ forward from Saint-Joseph-de-Lepage, a municipality near Mont-Joli, Québec.
Mercier played last season with the Collège de Rimouski Pionniers. He played in 26 games, tallying 21 goals and 13 assists, and was selected for the Québec College Hockey League Division 2 All-Star Game. In the previous two seasons, he wore the jersey of the Albatros du Collège Notre-Dame in Rivière-du-Loup in the Québec Midget AAA Hockey League.
