EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard maintains its second place ranking among the top Junior A teams in Canada, according to a press release today by the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
The Blizzard is on a seven-game winning streak. Over the past week, Edmundston has added three more wins to its record of 16 victories and just one loss.
The Blizzard won 9-4 on Thursday in Nova Scotia against Pictou County. The following day, in Grand-Bouctouche, they defeated the West-Kent Steamers 5-3. On Sunday, in Grand Falls, they hardly beat the Rapids 6-5 in a shootout.
The Western Capitals (12-1-2-0) remained in 5th place in the country, while the Amherst Ramblers (9-3-0-0) earned an honorable mention.
This season, the Blizzard are in first place overall in the Maritime Junior Hockey League, six points ahead of Summerside and 15 points better than the second-place team in the Eastlink North division, the West Kent Steamers (8-5-1-0).
The Rockland Nationals (CCHL) are still ranked as number one team in the Canadian standings. They have a record of 13-0-1. In third place are the Leamington Flyers (OJHL), with a record of 15-2-0-1.
The Blizzard will play their next five games at the Jean-Daigle Centre. Next weekend, they host the Fredericton Red Wings (5-9-0-0) on Friday (7:30 p.m.), followed by the Summerside Western Capitals on Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
