EDMUNDSTON, Nouveau-Brunswick – Playing with little cohesion, the Edmundston Blizzard fell 5-1 to the Miramichi Timberwolves on Saturday at the Miramichi Civic Centre.
The Blizzard were in the game until late in the second period, tied 1-1. But the local team scored four unanswered goals to escape with a convincing victory.
Justin David (19th and 2 assists; 1st star), Kaden MacNeil (2nd and 1 assist; 2nd star), Jacob Lafontaine (23rd and 1 assist), Caleb Van De Ven (8th and 1 assist) and Drew MacIntyre (7th) beat goaltender Frédéric Cousineau, who received 28 shots.
Will Allen (17th) was the only Blizzard to get the puck past Jack Flanagan, who earned third star honors after facing 38 shots.
The Timberwolves (20-11-0-3) join the Campbellton Tigers (19-11-4-3) in 3rd place in the Eastlink North division. The two teams total 43 points.
The Blizzard’s record now stands at 28-6-1-1, and they face the West Kent Steamers (21-9-3-1) tomorrow, Sunday (4 p.m.) in Grand-Bouctouche.
