Blizzard: The arrival of Dominic Hachey forces the departure of Brendan Lanning

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL) traded today defenseman Brendan Lanning to the Valley Wildats (Kentville, Nova Scotia) in return of a 4th round pick in the league’s draft in 2019.

A Gander, Newfoundland native, Lanning has an impressive physique (6’4’’ and 198 lbs). He took part in all three Blizzard games this season with no points and two penalty minutes.

There were too many rearguards at the Blizzard blue line since the arrival of Dominic Hachey who was cut from the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Hachey played in two games this past weekend for the Islanders against Moncton and Halifax. He will be an important part of the Blizzard’s lineup on defense.

At 17, Hachey (6’1’’ and 187 lbs) was a third-round pick of the Dieppe Commandos in 2016. He played 5 games last season with the Dieppe team. He played midget hockey with his hometown Moncton Flyers. Hachey was a sixth-round draft pick of the QMJHL Charlottetown Islanders in 2016.
