EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard’s eighth season officially gets underway on Thursday August 29 with the opening of training camp.
Some forty players will report to head coach Simon Olivier. Veterans and youngsters wishing to carve out a place for themselves will arrive at the Jean-Daigle Centre at 10 a.m. for registration and a meeting of all players.
There will be no downtime, as on-ice training sessions will start on the same day at 1 p.m. (Blue group) and 2:15 p.m. (Grey group). An intrasquad game will follow at 7 p.m. On-ice sessions are open to the public.
On Friday August 30, on-ice training will take place from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. In the evening, at 7 p.m., the Blizzard will play their first exhibition game when they travel to Grand Falls to take on the Rapids.
On Saturday August 31, on-ice practices will run from 12:15 to 2:00 p.m., with an intrasquad game in the evening (7:00 to 8:30 p.m.).
The Blizzard will play two more away exhibition games, on Wednesday, September 4 (7 p.m.) in Grand Falls and on Friday, September 6 (7 p.m.) in Campbellton. The Blizzard will play its only preparatory game at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Saturday, September 7 (7:30 p.m.) against Campbellton. The Blizzard will kick off its season on Friday, September 13 in Edmundston, at 7:30 p.m., when they host the Campbellton Tigers.
Season tickets will be distributed at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Thursday August 29 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) and Friday August 30 (10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Those unable to pick them up on either of these dates will be able to do so at the preparatory game on September 7.
