Blizzard training camp opens Wednesday

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The sixth season of the Edmundston Blizzard will officially take off Wednesday, with the opening of training camp.

More than 35 players will report to head coach Simon Olivier. Veterans and younger skaters wishing to earn a spot on the team will come to the Jean-Daigle Centre starting at 10 a.m. for registration and a meeting of all the players.

There will be no break as the on-ice training sessions begins at 1:00 p.m. (group A) and 2:15 p.m. (group B). An intra-squad game will follow at 7:30 p.m. The on-ice sessions are open to the public.

On Thursday, September 1, on-ice training will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Players will undergo physical testing in the afternoon (2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.). Another intra-squad game will take place at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, September 2, training will resume at the same times as the day before. In the evening, the Blizzard will visit the Campbellton Tigers starting at 7 p.m. for a first preseason game. The same two teams will face off at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Saturday, September 3 at 8:30 p.m.

The Blizzard’s second preseason game at the Jean-Daigle Centre against Campbellton will be held on Saturday, September 10 (7:30 p.m.).

The Blizzard will kick off its regular season on Friday, September 16 in Edmundston, at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers will once again be the visitors.
