Blizzard training camp opens Wednesday

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard’s seventh season officially gets underway on Wednesday with the opening of training camp.

Some 30 players will report to head coach Simon Olivier. Veterans and youngsters looking to carve out a place for themselves will arrive at the Jean-Daigle Centre at 10 a.m. for registration and a meeting of all players.

There will be no off-time, with on-ice training sessions starting Wednesday at 1 p.m. (Group A) and 2:15 p.m. (Group B). An intra-team game will follow at 8:15pm. On-ice sessions are open to the public.

On Thursday August 30, on-ice training will take place from 9:30 to 11:45. Another intra-team game will take place at 8:15 p.m.

On Friday, September 1, training resumes in the morning. In the evening, the Blizzard will visit the Campbellton Tigers at 7 p.m. for their first exhibition game. On Saturday, September 2, Edmundston will host the Grand Falls Rapids to the Jean-Daigle Centre at 7:30 p.m.

The Blizzard will play its third preseason game on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. in Grand Falls, and its final exhibition game at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Friday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. against Campbellton.

Individual tickets for these two exhibition games are currently on sale online: https://blizzardedmundston.ticketacces.net. These two games are free for season ticket holders.

The Blizzard will kick off its regular season on Friday, September 15 in Edmundston, starting at 7:30 p.m., when they host the new West Kent Steamers (formerly known as the South Shore Lumberjacks).
