EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard management members are proud to announce that they have come to an agreement with forward Philippe Collette, who has played 27 games this season with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Released by the QMJHL team, Collette, a solid 6′ and 198 lbs player from Saint-Antoine, will allow head coach Simon Olivier to add to his roster a young 17-year-old player full of hope. He totaled 4 goals and 3 assists in Bathurst. Last season, he donned the Blizzard uniform during two games.
It is primarily for his exceptional career in the midget AAA ranks that Collette is recognized. After finishing second in scoring in the NB-IPE Midget AAA League in 2021-22 with 11 goals and 39 assists in 30 games, Collette wowed the gallery by helping the Moncton Flyers win the Canadian Midget Telus Cup. He contributed with a nice showing of 7 goals and 4 assists in 7 games.
Philippe Collette was the second overall pick of the 2021 Maritime Junior Hockey League draft. He was selected by the Campbellton Tigers. On August 26, 2022, the Blizzard obtained him as well as defenseman Jean-Philippe Boudreau and a second-round pick in return for Frederyck Janvier who only played a few games in Edmundston. A stroke of genius from Blizzard General Manager Steve MacPherson.
The Blizzard will play its next home game on Thursday, January 12 (7:30 p.m.) hosting its Northwestern rivals, the Grand Falls Rapids.
