Truro, N.S. (March 12, 2025) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) has named forward Émile Fournier of the Edmundston Blizzard as the Top Rookie for February and March. The 18-year-old from Sainte-Luce, Quebec led all rookies with eight assists and fourteen points in ten games during the final stretch of the season. He also tallied six goals, which were second only to Amherst’s Elliot Wright among rookies. Fournier had four multi-point games in February and March, starting strong with two goals and two assists in a 10-3 win over West Kent on February 1st and then one goal and two assists in a 6-4 win over Campbellton the following day. He also had two goals and one assist in a 6-4 win over the Steamers on the 14th.
For the season, Fournier ranked first in numerous categories for rookies, including points (63), goals (37), powerplay goals (11) and points (15), and tied with Campbellton’s Felix-Antoine Laflamme for game-winning goals (5). He’s second to Laflamme for assists with 26.
Honourable Mention – Elliot Wright (Amherst Ramblers) – The 18-year-old forward from St. John’s, Newfoundland led MHL rookies in goals from the start of February with seven. Wright also had five assists to finish second in points to Edmundston’s Émile Fournier during that period. Standout performances include a hat trick in a 7-4 win over Valley on February 6th and one goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over Pictou County on the 15th. Wright, who joined the Ramblers after the trade deadline in January, totaled sixteen points in 20 games.
