WESTVILLE ROAD, Nova Scotia – The game wasn’t even halfway over when Noah Breau and Will Allen scored hat tricks. The two forwards led the Edmundston Blizzard to an easy 9-4 win over the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Thursday night in Westville Road, Nova Scotia.
For Breau, playing in his 19th career MHL game, it was his first three goals in the league. Allen (7th, 8th and 9th) notched his fourth career three-goal game, the others coming in the Miramichi Timberwolves uniform last season.
Alexis Jacques (4th and 1a), Émile Fournier (9th and 1a), Zachary Lessard (1st), Philippe Collette (3a), Darien Thomson (3a), Will Carroll (3a), Alexis Chénard (2a) and Carl-Anthony Massé (2a) also contributed to the offensive feast for the Blizzard (14-1-0-0), who won their fifth straight game.
For the Weeks Crushers (6-6-1-0), who scored twice while shorthanded, the goals came from Logan O’Neil (9th and 10th and 1a), Lucas Canning (8th and 2a) and Drew Maddigan (1st).
The Blizzard completely dominated once again in the shots department (56-25).
Breau (1st), Allen (2nd) and O’Neil (3rd) earned the stars of the evening.
Simon Boucher was in front of the Blizzard cage. For the home side, starter Yianni Karkoulas was relieved midway through the game by Liam Letters after conceding six goals.
With his three points, captain Philippe Collette took sole possession of the MHL scoring race. He totals 26 points (8g, 18a) in 15 games.
Since the original 2017-2018 season, there have been two other occasions when two Blizzard players scored a hat trick in the same game: on January 11, 2020 at Miramichi (Brock McLeod and Chrystopher Collin) and on January 4, 2024 against Grand-Falls at the Jean-Daigle Centre (Justin Hébert and Félix Bédard).
Simon Olivier’s men will remain in the Eastern Maritimes for their next game on Friday, October 25 (7:30 p.m.) in Grand-Bouctouche. The Blizzard will take on the West-Kent Steamers (7-3-1-0).
