EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard’s fall performance is rewarded with a third-place Canadian finish.
The Canadian Junior Hockey League has released its final national rankings before the holiday season. The Blizzard saw their rankings rise one spot.
After defeating easily the Fredericton Red Wings 9-1 on Friday, the Blizzard had a tougher night against the Amherst Ramblers, beating them 5-4 in overtime on Saturday. Both games were played at the Jean-Daigle Centre.
On the national scene, the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 27-2-1-1 – .903) dethroned the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 29-4-2-0 – .857), who now find themselves in fourth place. The Melfort Mustangs (SJHL, 26-4-0-0 – .867) are in second place, although their winning percentage is lower than that of the Blizzard (27-3-1-1 – .875).
The Summerside Western Capitals (24-5-2-1 – .797) sit in 7th place, while the West-Kent Steamers (20-8-2-1 – .694) receive an honorable mention for the sixth week in a row.
The Blizzard will play their first two games of the New Year on the rinks of the West Kent Steamers (January 3) and the Amherst Ramblers (January 4).
