Canadian rankings: Blizzard climb back to 5th

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Following their two convincing wins over the weekend, the Edmundston Blizzard have moved up two spots in the national Junior A rankings. They are now in 5th place.

The Blizzard (31-6-1-1; 821) defeated the Grand Falls Rapids 8-0 (Friday) and the Truro Bearcats 7-2 (Saturday).

At the top of the 117-team Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) pyramid, the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 34-2-1-1; .921) remain on an exceptional 20-game winning streak. The Melfort Mustangs (NOJHL, 31-5-0-0; .861) are again in second place, followed by the Leamington Flyers (OJHL, 35-5-2-1; .849) and the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 35-5-2-0; .857).

The Summerside Western Capitals (29-6-2-1; .803) dropped three places to 8th. An honorable mention goes to the Amherst Ramblers (23-10-2-0; .686).

The Blizzard will play their next two games on opposing rinks, in Grand-Bouctouche against the West Kent Steamers on Friday, January 24 (7:30 p.m.) and in Summerside against the Western Capitals on Saturday, January 25 (7 p.m.).
