EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Two weekend victories over strong teams helped the Edmundston Blizzard move up one spot in the weekly rankings compiled by the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).
The Blizzard (33-6-1-1; .829), on a five-game winning streak, are now ranked 4th nationally. Simon Olivier’s team defeated the West Kent Steamers 4-1 on Friday, then triumphed over the Summerside Western Capitals 5-1 the following day. Both games were played on opposing rinks.
At the top of the national rankings, the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 37-5-2-0; .864) are back in first place, followed by the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 2nd place, 34-3-1-1; .897) and the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL, 3rd place, 32-6-0-0; .842).
The Summerside Western Capitals (29-7-2-2; .775) dropped four places to 12th, while the Amherst Ramblers (25-10-2-0; .703) retain their honorable mention.
This week, the Blizzard play three games. On Thursday (7:30 p.m.), they host the Grand Falls Rapids (9-23-1-6), and on Saturday (7:30 p.m.), they play against the West Kent Steamers (22-11-4-1) at the Jean-Daigle Centre. On Sunday (3 p.m.), they visit the Campbellton Tigers (22-13-4-1).
