EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Despite having the second-best winning percentage in the country, the Edmundston Blizzard maintained its fourth-place ranking in the weekly Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) standings.
By winning its two home games last weekend, the Blizzard (40-5-1-1; .872) is on a 13-game winning streak, just one shy of its record of 14 set in the 2022-2023 season.
On Friday, the Blizzard disposed of the West-Kent Steamers 6-4. On Sunday, they hardly defeated the Grand Falls Rapids 3-2 in a shootout.
In the national rankings, the Rockland Nationals (CCHL, 40-5-1-0; .880) regained possession of first place. They are followed by the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 42-6-2-0; .860, the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 38-5-1-1; .867) and the Edmundston Blizzard.
The Summerside Western Capitals (33-7-2-2; .795) maintained their 8th place ranking. The Amherst Ramblers (32-11-2-0; .733) received another honorable mention.
The Blizzard have just five games left in the regular calendar. This week, they host the Miramichi Timberwolves (Thursday, February 20, 7:30 p.m.) and visit the Campbellton Tigers on Sunday, February 23 (3 p.m.).
