Canadian rankings: Blizzard moves up to 3rd place

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Good news for the Edmundston Blizzard, who have once again climbed the national ladder to 3rd place in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) standings.

Last week, the Blizzard were in 6th place. The last time this season that the Edmundston team was ranked this high was on December 23, 2024, when they were 3rd.

Last week, Simon Olivier’s team won its only game on the schedule, a 7-4 victory over the Fredericton Red Wings on Thursday, February 27.

In the national rankings, the Rockland Nationals (CCHL, 44-6-1-0; .873) sit atop the standings, followed by the Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 47-6-2-1; .866), the Edmundston Blizzard (MHL, 42-6-1-1; .860), the Leamington Flyers (OJHL, 45-7-3-1; .839) and the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL, 41-7-0-2; .840).

The Summerside Western Capitals (35-10-2-2; .755) have dropped from 11th to 13th place, while the Amherst Ramblers (35-13-2-0; .720) are now ranked 20th.

Strangely, the Greater Sudbury Clubs (NOJHL, 41-5-1-1; .875) dropped three spots (7th) despite winning both their games last week and still posting the best win-loss percentage in the country.

The Blizzard complete their schedule this weekend when they host the Miramichi Timberwolves (25-23-0-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and the Campbellton Tigers (26-18-4-2) on Sunday at 3 p.m.
