Canadian rankings: Blizzard sits 5th

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Despite two losses to start the new year, the Edmundston Blizzard has dropped just two places in the national rankings. They are now in fifth place following last week’s games.

The Blizzard (27-5-1-1; .824) fell 4-3 to the West Kent Steamers in Grand-Bouctouche on Friday. The following day, they suffered a 5-2 loss to the Amherst Ramblers. Both games were played on opposing rinks.

On the national scene, the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 29-2-1-1; .909) are once again in first place, followed by the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL, 28-4-0-0; .875) and the Leamington Flyers (OJHL, 30-5-2-1; .829).

The Summerside Western Capitals (26-5-2-1; .809) remain in 7th place.

The Blizzard play their next home game on Thursday, January 9 (7:30 p.m.) when they host the Campbellton Tigers (18-10-4-1).
