EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Despite two wins over the weekend, the Edmundston Blizzard slipped two spots in the weekly Canadian Junior Hockey League standings. They now sit in fourth place.
Trenton (OJHL, 28-3-2-0 – .879), Greater Sudbury (NOJHL, 26-2-1-1 – .900) and Melfort (SJHL, 23-4-0-0 – .852) occupy 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The Blizzard have a record of 25-3-1-1 (.867) and lead the overall Maritime Hockey League standings, three points ahead of the Summerside Western Capitals (23-5-2-1 – .790) who are ranked 8th nationally. The West Kent Steamers (19-7-2-1) stay on course with a fifth consecutive honourable mention.
Last weekend, the Blizzard earned two overtime victories after trailing late in those games. On Friday, they defeated the Grand Falls Rapids 4-3 in Edmundston. The following afternoon in Fredericton, the Blizzard overcame the Red Wings 6-5.
The Blizzard will play its last two games of 2024 at the Jean-Daigle Centre. On Friday, they host the Fredericton Red Wings (7-19-1-1), while the following day, they face the Amherst Ramblers (17-8-0-0), a team that has won its last 6 games.
