Canadian rankings: Blizzard still 4th

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – After only one game last week, the Edmundston Blizzard remain in fourth place in the weekly Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) standings.

The Blizzard (38-5-1-1; .867) have won their last 11 games, considering the MHL’s decision to award Edmundston the win on January 11, when the Miramichi Timberwolves played with a suspended player. Miramichi had initially won that game 5-1. The Timberwolves decided to forfeit the game in view of the irregularity.

On Friday in Fredericton, the Blizzard won 4-1 to confirm their Eastlink North Division championship. With seven games left to play, the Blizzard lead the Summerside Western Capitals by 10 points. The Capitals, however, have two games in hand.

In the national standings, positions 1 to 7 are occupied by the same teams as last week. The Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL, 41-5-2-0; .875) remain at the top, followed by the Greater Sudbury Cubs (NOJHL, 2nd place, 37-4-1-1; .884) and the Rockland Nationals (CCHL, 3rd place, 38-5-1-0; .875).

The Summerside Western Capitals (32-7-2-2; .791) are in 8th place, up three positions. The Amherst Ramblers (20-11-2-0; .721) received an honorable mention.

In the upcoming weekend, the Blizzard will play two home games. They will host the West Kent Steamers (26-12-4-1) on Friday, February 14 (7:30 p.m.) and the Grand Falls Rapids (11-25-2-6) on Sunday, February 16 (3 p.m.).
