Chaleur ties the series

BATHURST, New Brunswick – A seemingly innocuous shot from the point by former Blizzard defenseman Owen Arnold sealed the outcome of the game at 6:34 of the second overtime period as the Chaleur Lightning defeated the Edmundston Blizzard 4-3 on Tuesday night at the K.C. Irving Centre in Bathurst.

This second consecutive win for the Chaleur ties the series at 2-2 in the Metalfab MHL Cup Eastlink North Division best-of-seven final series, which continues Thursday (7:30 p.m.) at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

Although, strangely enough, neither goaltender managed to catch the attention of those selecting the game’s stars, they were the ones who stood out in a game featuring 89 shots. Cédric Massé of the Blizzard faced 46 shots, compared to 43 for his counterpart, Jack Flanagan.

The home team took a 3-1 lead in the second period, but the Blizzard rallied with two goals to tie the score early in the third period.

Cohen McCallum (1st), Sam Rocca (4th), and Zachary Rushton (5th) beat the Blizzard goaltender in regulation time. Émile Fournier (4th), Eliott Guenette (3rd), and Michael Derbidge (2nd) did the same for the Blizzard.
