BERWICK, Nova Scotia – The Blizzard once again showed their savoir-faire on Saturday night, disposing of the Valley Wildcats, 5-2, in Berwick, Nova Scotia.
With a clear 50-28 advantage in shots, there was no doubting the Blizzard’s dominance, although the Wildcats never gave up, trailing 3-2 after two periods.
Émile Fournier (3rd and 4th; winning goal), Carl-Anthony Massé (4th, 1a), Philippe Collette (6th) and Zachary Robichaud (1st) scored the goals for Edmundston, who posted a seventh straight win, tying the 2017-2018 team mark for most wins to start a season. Massé netted the Blizzard’s first shorthanded goal of the season, an important goal that gave them a 4-2 lead in the third.
Aiden Tucker (1st) and Lucas Byrne (3rd) replied for the Wildcats (4-4-0-0).
Jack Howatt earned a fourth win in front of the Blizzard cage. His opponent was Xavier Farrah (1-2-0-0).
An unusual fact (if not incomprehensibly), the first two stars of the game went to the Wildcats (Aiden Tucker – 1st and Landen Toole – 2nd), a team completely dominated on Saturday night. The third star, Émile Fournier, certainly deserved the first for his two goals and hard work in front of the net.
The Blizzard complete their three-game weekend in Nova Scotia by taking on the Truro Bearcats on Sunday starting at 4 p.m.
