Convincing 7-1 win: Blizzard ready to start the season

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – There is no doubt that Emery Olauson’s squad is ready to start the 2020-21 season. With a convincing 7-1 over the Fredericton Red Wings on Sunday at the Jean-Daigle Centre, Blizzard players showed their fans that they could expect a great campaign.

It was the last exhibition game for the Blizzard (2-1-1).

Samuel Grégoire, Félix Laniel and Isaac Chapman had a goal and an assist each. Other Blizzard scorers were Kevin Desjardins, Jesse Chamberlain, Brendan Sibley, and Dylan Lang.

First star of the game, Ethan Johnson, collected three assists. Laniel earned the second star and the third went to Sibley.

Matt Gauthier avoided the shutout for the Red Wings, who trailed 2-1 and 3-1 after the first two periods.

Even though he only faced 24 shots, Marc-Antoine Bérubé-Jalbert had to shine a few times allowing the Blizzard to maintain the lead. Edmundston fired 31 times at Morgan Kini.

A crowd of 1,266 persons attended the game. The Maritime Hockey League will release the full regular season schedule at the start of the week. We already know that activities will get under way next weekend.
