Couroux to replace Sheehan, Flynn leaves for the MJHL

EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard made some adjustments at the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL) transaction deadline by obtaining goaltender Simon Couroux from the Rockland Nationals, a Junior A Ontario team of the Central Canada Hockey League, for future considerations.

Couroux is originally from Gatineau, Quebec, and is 19 years old. In 10 games this season in front of the Nationals’ net, he maintained a 3.83 goals against average and a .894 save percentage. He will team up with Raphaël Audet following the departure of Nicholas Sheehan for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL. Couroux, a 6’1 “, 185 lbs goaltender, was a 13th round pick (224th overall) of the Gatineau Olympiques at the 2018 QMJHL Midget Draft.

Meanwhile, Edmundston traded forward Drake Flynn to the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s OCN Blizzard (Opaskwayak Cree Nation) in return for future considerations. In 16 games with Edmundston, Flynn had 1 goal and 4 assists.

Blizzard management welcomes Simon Couroux and thanks Drake Flynn for his service to the organization and wishes him well with his new club.
