Crucial trip for the Blizzard

EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – Last weekend of the regular season for the Edmundston Blizzard before the start of the playoffs. And the challenge will be highly demanding: three games in three days and the objective of improving its rank in the standings.

Blizzard players and staff left this afternoon for Eastern Maritime. They will take on the Valley Wildcats on Friday (7 p.m.), the Summerside Western Capitals on Saturday (7 p.m.) and the Amherst Ramblers on Sunday (2 p.m.).

The fight for 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions in the Eastlink North division remains very tight. Campbellton (.691), Edmundston (.662) and Fredericton (.647) are engaged in a constant battle. Positions 2 and 3 will face each other in a first division semi-final starting next week. And the team that finishes in 4th place will have a lot to do against the powerful Summerside Western Capitals. The Red Wings fell to 4th place Thursday night after a surprise 6-5 setback at home against the Miramichi Timberwolves.

A few days before the playoffs, this four-day trip will certainly allow players to strengthen ties.
