Defenseman Zachary Lessard to play in Edmundston

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard continues to fill up on defensemen!

This time, they’ve acquired free-agent Zachary Lessard, a 19-year-old veteran right-handed defenseman (he’ll be 20 in September) who played all his junior hockey in the QMJHL.

Born in Châteauguay, Québec, the 5’9”, 183 lb. rearguard played 179 games in the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League over the past four campaigns. He played for the Sherbrooke Phoenix, Rimouski Oceanic and Baie-Comeau Drakkar. He tallied 40 points (3g, 37a) during his major junior career.

With the Drakkar last spring, Zachary Lessard played in the President Cup final won by the Drummondville Voltigeurs.

The Phoenix selected him in the 2nd round (37th overall) of the 2020 QMJHL draft.
