Edmundston’s Antoine Lyonnais named Pro Design Cresting Rookie of the Month for December

Truro, N.S. (January 5, 2020) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) has Edmundston Blizzard goaltender Antoine Lyonnais as Pro Design Cresting Rookie of the Month for December.

The Pro Design Cresting Rookie of the Month for December is Edmundston Blizzard goaltender Antoine Lyonnais. This is the second time that the 18-year-old from Trois-Rivières, Quebec has been given the honour, having been named the top rookie in the MHL in September. In the final month of 2019, Lyonnais posted a 4-1-0-1 record in six games. His 2.60 goals against average was the sixth-best for any netminder in the league with a minimum of four games played, and a .914 save percentage that placed him fifth overall in December.

Lyonnais made his first start of the month on December 8th where he allowed two goals on 39 shots to the high-powered Summerside offense, but Edmundston fell 3-2 in a shootout on home ice.

He then posted three wins in four days. Lyonnais allowed four goals on 38 shots in a 5-4 win in Miramichi on the 12th, made 22 saves in a 6-1 victory at home to South Shore on the 14th, and then made 25 saves in an 8-2 win over the Rapids in Grand Falls on the 15th.

In his final start of the month, Lyonnais was in tough against Campbellton where he allowed five goals, but Edmundston downed the Tigers 6-5 in a shootout at Centre Jean Daigle.
