EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard acquired today free agent Gabriel Vanier, a 6’2’’ forward from Broisbriand, Que., who played this season with the New Jersey Rockets of the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC), a division of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL).
Vanier is a premier player. Last season, he led the Palm Beach Hawks’ team with 51 points (27g, 24a) in 27 games before being traded to the Charlotte Rush late in the season with whom he won the USPHL’s playoff championship. With Charlotte, he collected 11 points (4g, 7a) in just 6 games. This season with the Rockets, he was the top scorer with 14 points (8g, 6a) in 19 games.
The 19-year-old forward is a 7th round pick of the Halifax Mooseheads of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League in 2014.
Gabriel Vanier will be in uniform at the next Blizzard game on Friday, November 17 (7:30 pm) at the Jean-Daigle Centre in Edmundston.
