EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard has made changes to its goaltending position. They acquired Rylan Benner from the Truro Bearcats in exchange for future considerations and traded Frédéric Cousineau to the Timmins Rock, a Northern Ontario team in the NOJHL, for future considerations.
Benner, 19, is a native of Moncton. After playing minor hockey in his hometown, he worked his way up to the Boston Hockey Academy’s Midget AAA Prep team during the 2023-2024 season.
Last season, the 6’2″ goaltender played six games after the holidays with the Truro Bearcats, posting a 3.70 goals-against average, .893 save percentage, and 4-2-0-0 record.
Frédéric Cousineau, 20, of Malartic, Québec, compiled a 9-3-0-1 record in 13 games with the Blizzard last season. His goals-against average was 2.71 and he showed a save percentage of .894. In the playoffs, he won six of his seven games with a 2.56 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
The Blizzard management welcomes Rylan Benner and wishes Frédéric Cousineau success and thanks him for his service to the Blizzard, champions of the last MHL playoffs.
