EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – With training camp just days away, the Edmundston Blizzard has some good news to share with their fans. The team has reached an agreement with Cédric Massé, an established goaltender in the QMJHL.
The 6’0’’ goalie, who will turn 20 in November, played 37 games last season with the Val-d’Or Foreurs. In 37 games, he posted a 4.04 goals-against average, a .875 save percentage, and a 15-11-2 record.
The previous season, he played for the Rimouski Océanic, his hometown team. In 21 games, he maintained a 3.69 goals-against average and a .869 save percentage, in addition to a 9-8-3 record. He played in three games with Rimouski in 2022-2023.
With a total of 61 games in the QMJHL, he is the most experienced major junior goaltender to join the Blizzard, which will begin its ninth season on September 13 by hosting the Amherst Ramblers. In the meantime, Edmundston will play three preseason games against the Grand Falls Rapids, including two at the Jean-Daigle Centre on August 30 and September 10. Players will report to head coach Michael Ward on Thursday, August 28.
