Indiscipline sinks Blizzard in Summerside

SUMMERSIDE, Prince Edward Island – The Edmundston Blizzard will have to learn in this first quarter of the season that they can’t afford to offer chances on a silver plate against an offensive squad as powerful as the Summerside Western Capitals.

The Islanders scored four power play goals Saturday night, en route to a 5-2 win over the Blizzard who suffered a second consecutive loss for the first time this campaign.

Brodie MacArthur (2g, 1a), Kallum Muirhead (1g, 3a), Marc-André LeCouffe (1g, 1a) and Colby MacArthur (1g) got the puck passed Antoine Lyonnais who faced 42 shots. His opponent Dominik Tmej received 28 shots. He gave in to Tristan Gagnon and Isaac Chapman.

The power-play unit was successful for Summerside, which produced four goals in eight attempts. The Blizzard also benefited from eight power-play opportunities but failed to score.

The Capitals (12W, 3L) now leads the Blizzard (9W, 4L) by six points atop the Eastlink North Division.

Blizzard players return to Edmundston and will have a few days to refine their preparation before their next three meetings on the road. On November 1st, they will face South Shore. The next day (November 2nd), they will play against Yarmouth. They will end their five-game series on the road on November 7 when they visit Fredericton.
