Jérémy Duguay sparkles against the Red Wings

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – After being named the player of the month for February with the Edmundston Blizzard, Jérémy Duguay continued his winning ways by scoring three goals to lead the Blizzard to a 6-3 win and an 11th consecutive victory.

For Duguay, it was his 19th, 20th and 21st goals of the campaign, a career high for him at the junior level. It was the second hat trick of the season for the 21-year-old Tracadie forward.

Peter Amanatidis (11th), Olivier Coulombe (46th and an assist) and Jérémy Fortin (7th and an assist) also managed to find the back of the net against goaltender Sebastian Lever who faced 41 shots. Tristan Fortin (three assists), Patrick LeBlanc (two assists) and Alex Arsenault (two assists) also looked good for the Blizzard offense, which saw its record improve to 35-12-1-0.

Former Blizzard Mathieu Pelletier continues to excel. The St. Jacques forward had a goal and a helper in the loss. The other goals for Fredericton were scored by Manix Sarrasin and Nelson Stewart.

February’s MHL Rookie of the Month, Samuel LeBlanc recorded his tenth straight win in front of the Blizzard cage, one shy of the team mark set this year by Thomas Boucher. LeBlanc faced 31 shots.

Jérémy Duguay (1st), Tristan Fortin (2nd) and Mathieu Pelletier (3rd) earned the stars of the game.

With four games to go before the end of the regular season, the Blizzard are only one win away from the record of 36 registered in the famous original season in 2017-2018. And the magic number for finishing first in the Eastlink North Section is 4. The Summerside Western Capitals (31-14-2-0) trail the Blizzard by 7 points.

The Blizzard players will enjoy a good night’s sleep before traveling to Miramichi on Saturday (7 p.m.) to take on the Timberwolves (25-16-7-1) and their devastating offense.
