FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Affiliate player Josh Nadeau really feels at home when playing in Fredericton. He proved it Thursday night when he led the Edmundston Blizzard to a 4-2 victory over the Fredericton Red Wings in front of a crowd of 785 spectators at the centre Grant Harvey Centre.
Nadeau, 16, had his best performance in the MHL with one goal and two assists. Nadeau, who plays fro the Fredericton Office Interiors Caps, is currently the second best scorer in the NBPEI Midget AAA Hockey League with 22 goals and 28 assists in 30 games.
Alex Lavoie, Isaac Chapman and Evan White also lit the red light for the Blizzard, who was outshot 38-30. Patrick Musico and Aaron Brown replied for the Wings.
Marc-Antoine Bérubé-Jalbert was solid in front of the Blizzard’s net, particularly in the third period when he blocked all 17 Wings’ shots. He collected his 5th win this season. His only loss of the campaign came on the shootout. Jack Grant was the goalkeeper for the Red Wings.
Josh Nadeau earned the first star, followed by teammate Marc-Antoine Bérubé-Jalbert and Patrick Musico of the Wings.
This win by the Blizzard (29-9-1-6, 65 points), combined with Thursday’s losses of the Campbellton Tigers (23-14-3-2, 51 points) and the Red Wings (24-17-3-0, 51 points) increases Edmundston’s chances to secure second place in the Eastlink Division.
Blizzard’s next game will be on Sunday, February 16 (3 pm) when Edmundston hosts the Grand Falls Rapids.
