Joshua Nadeau traded in response to family request

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard made a trade Tuesday with the Penticton Vees of the BC Junior A Hockey League, sending Joshua Nadeau in return for future consideration.

The Blizzard had no other choice to do so in order to meet the wishes of Joshua’s family who wanted to see him play in another league before making the jump with the University of Maine Black Bears (NCAA division 1) in the near future.

A native of Saint-François-de-Madawaska, Joshua Nadeau, who will turn 18 in October, had a tremendous start with the Blizzard in the Maritime Hockey League. In 2019-20, he had 2 goals and 4 assists in 7 games. Then, in his rookie season in 2020-21, he collected 13 goals and 18 assists in 15 games, earning him the MHL Rookie of the Year award in addition to the Blizzard scoring title.

“Obviously we would have liked to see Joshua stay with the team, but we respect his family’s decision and wish him a great career in hockey and in his studies. Edmundston fans were able to appreciate all of his talent and his future looks very promising, “said André Lebel, President of the Blizzard.
